Council Highlights – July 8, 2025

This meeting took place at the Municipal Office at 9:00 a.m. A summary of the happenings from Council is as follows:

• Committee of Adjustment Hearing – Minor Variance Applications: the Committee granted minor variance applications A08-25 (Dempsey, 343796 Ebenezer Rd) and A10-25 (Strickland, 163820 Brownsville Rd), with conditions.
• Public Meeting – Zone Change Application ZN-4-25-07: Council approved the application submitted by Leiskau/Usher, 584132 Beachville Road for the proposed construction of a new detached 223m2 accessory structure (garage) in the front yard of the property.
• 2024 Audited Financial Statements: the Township’s Auditor presented the 2024 audited financial statements and trust funds which were approved by Council.
• Court of Revision – Koteles Municipal Drain: this was postponed to the August 12^th Meeting.
• By-law Exemption Request: Council approved the Noise By-law exemption request submitted by Innes for property located at 565038 Karn Road.
• Master Fire Plan Initial Council Presentation: Council received a presentation from Rick Arnel, Fire and Life Safety at the Loomex Group regarding the process for developing the Township’s new Master Fire Plan.
• Staff Reports: Township Development Charges – Annual Adjustment; Strategic Planning: Quarterly Update Q2; Strong Mayor Powers – Legislative Update; Procedural Reminders – Delegations and Notices of Motion; Building Department Monthly Activity Report; 2025 First Quarter Budget Update; and 2025 Gravel Crushing Tender Results.
• Bill 5 and Strong Mayor Powers: Council received the draft correspondence from Mayor Mayberry. Direction was provided to staff to delegate certain Strong Mayor Powers held by the Head of Council, through formal Mayoral Decisions, as permitted under the Municipal Act.
• By-laws and Agreements: to appoint a Clerk (Denny Giles); to dissolve the existing wards and to re-divide the Township into new wards; to amend Township Zoning By-law (ZN 4-25-07).
