Animal Care and Control
The Township of South-West Oxford is committed to creating a pet-friendly community where responsible owners and pets help keep our community clean and safe.
As per our Animal Care and Control By-Law 76-2017, make sure:
- Your dog doesn't run at large.
- You clean up after your dog.
- Your dog doesn't bark or howl enough to disturb your neighbours (Noise By-Law 49-2021).
Animal Control Services
The Township’s Animal Control services are contracted out to a third party. To report a lost; missing; or found dog, please contact Hillside Kennels at 519-469-3247.
Animal Control Services will only pick up sick or injured wildlife (racoons, rodents, birds, etc.) on Township property. If the animal is on private property, please contact a local wildlife rescue organization for assistance. Please do not call 9-1-1 as the OPP does not respond to sick or injured wildlife.
As of January 1, 2022, the Township will no longer issue dog licenses to pet owners. It is now the pet owner's responsibility to provide some form of identification (e.g., dog tag or microchip) for their pet. Dog licensing fees will no longer be added to tax rolls. Failure to properly identify your pet is subject to a $150.00 fine per occurrence.
