Council Highlights – August 12, 2025

This meeting took place the Municipal Office at 9:00 a.m. A summary of the happenings from Council is as follows:

• Committee of Adjustment Hearing: Applications for Minor Variance were considered by the Committee for the following:
  • A07-2024 (Paton) – Extension of deferral (1 year – granted)
  • A09-2025 (Scott) – Granted with conditions
  • A11-2025 (Yeoman) – Granted
  • A12-2025 (Gillespie) – Granted 
• Court of Revision for Koteles Drain (Section 76): The Court of Revision adjourned, having heard no appeals.
• By-law Exemption Request (Animal Care & Control): Council denied the by-law exemption request to keep chickens, a mini pony and mini donkey at property located at 584620 Beachville Road.
• Public Meeting: Zone Change Application ZN 4-25-02: Council deferred the request for zone change for property located at 292171 Culloden Line pending site plan approval.
• Oxford County Planning Division – Additional Residential Units: Council received a presentation regarding a review and update of the provisions for ARUs in the Township Zoning By-law, including highlights and proposed changes. Council directed staff to proceed with initiating amendments to the by-law, which will include public consultation.

  • Appointment of a Municipal Auditor (2025-2027)
  • 2024 Municipal Audit Report - Boards/Committees Not Appointed by Council
  • Proposed New Municipal Building Update – SPH engineering to provide presentation at the September 2^nd Meeting
  • By-law Enforcement Activity Report - 2nd Quarter (2025)
  • Wind Energy Process and Fairness Considerations – delegation from the proponent to take place at the September 2^nd Meeting
  • Inactive/Unclosed (Stale) Permits – Report
  • Building Department Monthly Activity Report
  • Fire and Emergency Services: Open-Air Burning Fees and Charges Invoice
• ERTH Special Shareholder Meeting: Council appointed attendees to the meeting to take place on August 15^th
• By-laws and Agreements: provisional by-law for the Koteles Drain (3^rd reading); appointment by-law for the municipal auditor (2025-2027); appointment by-law for Acting CAO/Deputy Clerk (Julie Middleton); and the appointment by-law for the Deputy CBO/Drainage Superintendent (Daniel Leduc).
• Upcoming Meetings: the next regular Meeting of Council will take place Tuesday, September 2^nd, 2025 at the Mount Elgin Community Centre (333204 Plank Line, Mount Elgin, ON, N0J 1N0.
