Parks and Playgrounds

More

The Township has 12 parks and playground areas which total approximately 50 acres available for your enjoyment. All of our parks and playgrounds are run by volunteer boards. Our parks are inspected monthly - during the spring, summer, and fall - to identify any health and safety issues.

 Beachville Parks and Recreation
The Beachville playground includes: a climber, swings, rocking equipment, and a composite structure.

There is also a cement tennis/basketball court, bleachers, and picnic tables.

Beachville Loweville Park

Located in the Loweville Subdivision of Beachville, this property is almost 2 acres and has modern playground equipment. There is also green space available for baseball or soccer games.

Brownsville Park

This park is located beside the Brownsville Community Complex. It has modern playground equipment and ground cover which make it fully accessible to all.

There is also a tennis court, lots of green space, and a roofed pavillion for family picnics or other events.

Centreville Pond

This wonderful little gem has great walking trails located in the wooded areas, a peaceful pond, a dam, and wonderful green space with park benches to allow you to listen to the frogs and the rush of the dam, or to just enjoy nature at its best.

Dereham Centre Park and Playground

This greenspace is located across the road from Dereham Centre Hall. It is great for family related events and includes a fully accessible playground that has modern swings, see saws, slides, and a spring action toy.

Foldens Park

This park features 2 baseball diamonds, a concession stand, washrooms, and lots of open green space. It is located right next to the Foldens (West Oxford) Community Hall.

Hilltop Park

Located in the subdivision in the village of Mount Elgin, this fully-accessible play structure (completed in 2019) is for children aged 5 to 12 years old. It has 3 slides, swings, and monkey bars.

There is an area on the main level for kids to play on with many different textiles to stimulate individuals with different abilities. The monkey bars with two rings allows wheelchair users to strengthen their upper body, and the platforms on the structure are no more than six inches apart which means all sides are accessible via the transfer station. The climbers also have three different textures which is beneficial to children with sensory processing disorder, and the swing set has an accessible seat for those who have low muscle tone so they can experience the swinging motion.

The park's main entrance is located near the intersection of Graydon Drive and Peggy Avenue. There is also a green space available for use.
Mount Elgin Parks and Recreation

This 5 acre park surrounds the Mount Elgin Community Centre and has a baseball diamond, concession building, washrooms, and a tennis court.
The playground is fully accessible and has modern climbers, rocking equipment, and swings.

Oxford Heights Peace Park

This 4 acre park is located in the community of Sweaburg and borders Lisas Drive and Glenn Avenue.
It has an open green space and meandering trails running through the scenic wooded area.

Salford Park and Playground

This 4 acre property was once the school for the area and still continues to be a gathering spot for local groups. The park and playground area consist of a baseball diamond, bleachers, concession building, pavilion, and washroom.

There is also a playground with modern up-to-date equipment and is fully accessible.

Sweaburg Community and Lions Park (Pavilion)

This 4 acre recreation area is managed by the Sweaburg Parks and Recreation Committee and is fully accessible. It is comprised of a baseball diamond, concession booth, washrooms, and playground equipment. The Sweaburg Lions Club manages the pavilion located in the park which has a capacity of 152 persons (framed) or 128 persons (open).

There is also a Hall on this property that can be rented with full kitchen and washroom facilities.

For booking inquiries regarding the Sweaburg Lions Pavilion, please contact Irene Morris at 519-608-1947.

 Tommy Williams Memorial Park

Located in Sweaburg, on the corner of Glenn Avenue and Dodge Line, this park has a modern and accessible play structure with swings, a small pavilion suitable for picnics or family gatherings, a baseball diamond (with bleachers), a multi-use paved pad with basketball nets, picnic tables, a bike rack, and parking. Tommy Williams Park was initially established in 2012 and is maintained by the Sweaburg Parks and Recreation Committee. The Sweaburg Parks and Recreation Committee welcomes new members, volunteers, and suggestions. Donations to Parks and Rec are eligible to receive a charitable tax receipt. Contact a committee member for details. Meetings are scheduled for every 3rd Thursday of each month from September to June (no meetings in December, July, or August) at the Sweaburg United Church.
