Road Improvements Scheduled for Peggy Avenue Between Mount Elgin Road and Graydon Drive.
The Township of South-West Oxford will be reconstructing the above stated street. Anticipated start date is July 17, 2017 and construction is expected to be completed August 11 of 2017. This will involve drainage improvements, platform widening, road elevation changes, addition of curbs and sidewalks.
Residents and visitors should take precautions while driving through the construction site.
While this construction is in progress the roadway will be open to through traffic, there will be traffic control staff to guide the public through the construction site, but expect delays and some inconvenience to traffic that is unavoidable due to the type of work that is going to take place. All efforts will be made to ensure that disruptions to the local residents are kept to a minimum.
With the cooperation of everyone, the construction work should proceed smoothly resulting in an improved roadway for everyone to use.
Please note that compaction equipment will be used and that there will be some vibration that you may feel in your home.
It is the responsibility of the property owners to remove any owner installed items within the road allowance such as fencing sprinklers, landscaping adornments, lamp posts, etc.
In the spring, of 2018, after construction is completed, the Township will plant new trees on the road allowance where suitable. The planting of trees on Township land is governed by Township By-Law # 32-2010 which can be viewed on the Township website (www.swox.org).
Before construction begins there will be an emergency access installed on Graydon Drive between lots 36 and 34 and will remain a permanent access for the residents of the subdivision.This access will be gated and only opened by Works Department staff when necessary . A sketch is attached.
